Good Evening Viking Parents and Families, this is Paula Nelson. I have three important updates for you tonight. Before I mention the updates, I just want to thank you again for the wonderful students that you send to us each day! I am constantly hearing from parents, teachers, volunteers and others on campus how respectful and cooperative our students are at school. We currently are seeing about 92% attendance, which is up from last year, so we hope to see that continue through June! Mark your calendar for Tuesday, September 20th when PTSA will be hosting a Principal's Forum at 7PM in our Cafeteria. This is an opportunity for us to meet, get some updated information and for you to ask questions, make recommendations or just get acquainted. I hope to see a filled room on the 20th! We are finishing up the 4th week of the first grading period so this is a great time to check your child's grades on Portal. We no longer distribute Mid Term Progress Reports due to the availability of Portal, which allows us to go green a bit and save lots of paper! However, your child's success is important to come on in if you have not already registered for Portal so that you can monitor and assist your child this year. Finally, NEHI is currently engaged in a School Spirit competition through Racetrack. Our football teams are coordinating this fundraising event to help promote school spirit. Please visit Racetrack and when you make a beverage purchase there, tell them you support Northeast Vikings and we will get another vote in our favor! We have heard we are currently in first place over SPHS, but the contest ends Monday, so we want to make sure that our Vikings visit Racetrack this weekend and vote for our school! The winning school will receive $3500 and any student who enters can compete for a new ipad! Send everyone you know over to Racetrack and support our Vikings! Good Afternoon Viking Families, this is Paula Nelson. I want to THANK each of you for sending us such wonderful children ! I am so impressed with the way they have conducted themselves this week and I hope that it is a sign of things to come! I have a few things to share with you to continue with our opening of the new school year. First of all, these messages will be placed on our school website for your future reference. Athletic schedules, Title I information, and other important documents will be there for you to access throughout the year. There will be a flyer posted there for an upcoming event called Parent University that you will want to take a look at and consider attending on September 10th. I hope that everyone will come out next Monday evening for our Title I Parent Open House. WE will meet in the Auditorium at 6PM for a brief opening and sharing of information. At 6:30, you will be released to follow your child's schedule for a very short meet and greet with each teacher. You can access your child's schedule on Portal or have them write it down for you before you come if you like. We will have staff present Monday night if you still need to register for Portal. Please come out and support our school and your child's education! Parent involvement is critical to the success of each child and our school, so we hope that we will see you on campus supporting our Vikings. Please don't forget to register as a volunteer and that will help our school continue with our Five Star School Recognition as well! Have a great weekend, make sure our students are doing their homework and coming prepared everyday for success!
